Angus Armitage
August 10, 1923 – April 30, 2011
We sadly say goodbye.
Angus Armitage will be lovingly remembered and celebrated as the pianist, leader and founder of The Gus Armitage Orchestra and The Armitage School of Music in Toronto Canada. A lifetime member of the Toronto Musician’s Union, he is responsible for thousands of successful parties and events, including performances at the Royal York Hotel, The King Edward, Toronto Craftsman’s, The Board of Trade, Casa Loma, The Japanese Businessman’s Association and was engaged for the summer Toronto Music in the Parks series. He was the house pianist at The Briars Resort in Jackson’s Point for 18 years and Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe, among numerous other clients in Toronto, Naples & Marco Island, Florida where he enjoyed his retirement years. He was an ardent environmentalist and nature lover, a member of the Georgina Naturalists and the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada.
Angus will be very sadly missed by his wife and partner in music of 64 years, Margaret Armitage, and his 4 surviving children: Dale, Andrea, Holly and Carrie as well as in-laws Priscilla, Michel and Anton. He was predeceased by two children: Dean & Laurie. Also missing their grandpa are grandchildren Darryl, Laurie, Bryen and Connor.
