We sadly say goodbye.

I can honestly say I was Daddy’s girl. It is from my Dad I inherited my love of nature and my love of music. I have been dragged through nearly every swamp and nesting ground in North America, and would still pick a venture like that over Disney Land any day. He was, quite simply, my hero and I loved him to death.

Angus Armitage

August 10, 1923 – April 30, 2011

We sadly say goodbye.

Angus Armitage will be lovingly remembered and celebrated as the pianist, leader and founder of The Gus Armitage Orchestra and The Armitage School of Music in Toronto Canada. A lifetime member of the Toronto Musician’s Union, he is responsible for thousands of successful parties and events, including performances at the Royal York Hotel, The King Edward, Toronto Craftsman’s, The Board of Trade, Casa Loma, The Japanese Businessman’s Association and was engaged for the summer Toronto Music in the Parks series. He was the house pianist at The Briars Resort in Jackson’s Point for 18 years and Lagoon City on Lake Simcoe, among numerous other clients in Toronto, Naples & Marco Island, Florida where he enjoyed his retirement years. He was an ardent environmentalist and nature lover, a member of the Georgina Naturalists and the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada.

Angus will be very sadly missed by his wife and partner in music of 64 years, Margaret Armitage, and his 4 surviving children: Dale, Andrea, Holly and Carrie as well as in-laws Priscilla, Michel and Anton. He was predeceased by two children: Dean & Laurie. Also missing their grandpa are grandchildren Darryl, Laurie, Bryen and Connor.

I will love you always....

You have left a beautiful legacy for all decendants to enjoy forever. Very befitting for such a wonderful man as your dad! We know you loved him dearly by this memorial to him. You can be very proud to have had such a wonderful dad. Sis Dea, Denta Corby VerMaas

I came to this post via a retweet on Twitter. I am glad I did. I don't know you and didn't know your Father but, this is a lovely tribute. He must have touched a lot of lives with his music and his efforts. Tell his story, and quote him often.
