Over the past few weeks I have been dusting myself off from an intense writing and recording period. Having written and produced two full length solo CDs in the past 18 months it has been difficult to slow the momentum and switch gears into promotion mode. In my schedule I have blocked off time for creativity, so even though the second CD, The Legend of The Free, is complete and being sent off for mastering this month I maintained my writing schedule and decided to do so for the entire month of August.
What has transpired is that I now have a collection of instrumental works; ‘Mind Trips’- which I will release as a special download accompaniment for those who purchase The Legend of The Free. Getting lost in the creation of instrumental music was exactly what I needed, especially after producing both The Spirit of The Times and The Legend of The Free. In order to write the content on these CDs I had to immerse myself in the current opportunities on Earth. There has never been a time when we needed people to open their eyes more.
When I was a little girl, I would pick up garbage. No one asked me to – I just wanted to/needed to. It always astounded me (before I even knew the word) how people could just throw a cigarette butt out the window for birds and nature to explore our toxic mess. We also fostered baby animals that had been orphaned at the road side or through hunting or development. The lucky ones were retrieved and brought to us to help them strengthen up for the wild. I was born into a world of disrespect for nature and right from the beginning it was apparent to me as I saw whole forests clear cut around me in the name of development.
Perhaps I needed to wait until I could reconcile all of this before I started writing about it. Now I know why things are the way they are – because we’ve been sold a bill of goods about consumerism and about our rightful place on earth that is simply wrong.
Imagine if everyone just stopped for one moment and considered this: All we really NEED is love, health and happiness. These cannot be bought; we need to slow down enough to just let them be. All the money in the world cannot buy you peace, love, health or happiness.
How can we rest at all until we know that every living thing on earth has the opportunity to just be? I know I can’t and I do what I can from my little corner of the world every day. The Spirit of The Times and The Legend of The Free are reflections of my daily meditations and they are full of my best intentions and love for this planet. My Mind Trips instrumental collection serves as a palate cleanser and a closing chapter of two of the most creative years I have experienced to date.
I trust you’re enjoying the slow pace of August and whilst doing that, are remembering what really matters - love, health and happiness – for all living things.
